LOSS OF JOHN AND VALERIE DEACON

29th April 2021

The club is very sad to announce the loss of John and Valerie Deacon who had been club members since 2011.

John was a full member right up to his death whilst Valerie having been a full member left us in October 2019.
Both died of Cancer whilst being cared for by their loving family with the support of St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing.
John died on the 31st of March with Valerie following him shortly afterwards on the 17th April.
This meant that due to the closeness of their departure the family was able to hold a joint funeral on the 27th of this month to celebrate their lives and the 65 year of happy marriage that the couple had enjoyed together.
Our thoughts are with their family at this time.

The club has been asked by Les Webb’s partner Ann Harrison to thank everybody for their kind thoughts, cards, and flowers, that she received and which were very much appreciated.

PASSING OF LES WEBB

24th March 2021

It is with great sadness that the club has to announce the sad loss of another one of its members who peacefully passed away on the 23rd of March 2021.

“Les ” who joined us in June 2011 was one of the club’s characters and will be sadly missed.

He was the Team Leader of Druids in the Tuesday mornings Winter league.

Our thoughts go out to his partner, Ann, as well as his wider family and friends at this time.

PASSING OF IAN COX

24th March 2021

It is with great sadness that the club has just learnt of the sad loss of another one of our members who passed away peacefully on the 15th of February 2021.
“Ian ” was one of the club’s early members who having left the club and then re-joined in October 2018 before leaving us again in October 2019.
Having had a short stay in hospital for an operation, Ian unfortunately picked up the Covid virus whilst there, which he then passed onto his wife who only had mild systems, whereas the combination of Covid and then, we believe, Sepsis was too much for Ian.
Our thoughts go out to his wife Val, as well as his wider family and friends at this time.

PASSING OF DENNIS SCOTT

19th March 2021

It is with great sadness that the club has to announce the sad loss of another one of its long-standing members who peacefully passed away on the 13th of March 2021.

“Dennis ” was one of the club’s earliest members and was a great supporter of the club having been a player as well as Team Leader for many years.

Even after he finished his bowling career he continued to run and support his teams, when they were playing, and all from the comfort of a chair in the club.
He was also known for buying the coffees after their matches.

Dennis had also been the Club Captain at Southwick BC, during his bowling career and like us at Adur will be missed for his warm smile and courteous manner.

The funeral for Dennis will be at 4:00 p.m. on 6th April 2021 at Worthing Crematorium.

Due to the current Covid restrictions attendance will be limited and by Invitation only.
